Life's thirst quenched with Water

H I J K L M N O

Now I am going to talk neither about the deepa mehta film, nor about the chemical properties of this heavenly fluid. Still I will scribe a couple of lines on the two.

1. Water was a film by Deepa Mehta, which triggered violent protests while being filmed in India.
The movie followed the lives of Hindu widows and its filming in India was abandoned few years ago after hard-line Hindu protesters burned the sets, claiming the movie distorted Indian culture.

2.Water is an oxide of hydrogen that is essential to all known forms of life-is a simple definition.

Water existing in its different forms on this blue planet, has more in store than being "essential for all forms of life".
Wondering what?
It holds more “for living life” too.
The different forms of water reveal different mindsets that we need to employ at different times in our life.

A highlight on the various forms of water and what to learn from them is below.
So get ready for this trip over the different forms of water. The medium of travel is “Water Cycle” of course!!

Rain:
The beautiful drops of pearl, which descend from the mighty heavens upon the very land that we live on, are seldom experienced in my state (TN). This has given the realization of how important it is, true to the oft-quoted saying:
“We realise the worth of something only when we miss it”.
As the spray of gleaming liquid leaves its fluffy floating abodes and makes its way towards the earth, it tells us, however great we are, we need to shed our ego and get humble and down-to-earth (pun intended).

Lake (pond):
This silent mass of water, residing in its own enclosure is an example of how we should be calm and composed in any situation.

Waterfall:
The crystal liquid lies at a great height, undergoes a tremendous fall, flows with greater speed after the fall.
It portrays that you should be good enough to conquer great heights and daring enough to live through the greatest hardships. You may suffer a mighty fall, But the fall should be a rise of its own.

Sea (oceans):
-Humongous bodies of water that cover more than two thirds of the earth. They conquer more and more land everyday thanks to global warming. The oceans depict what life is. The following lines are common to both life and the Ocean.
You don’t know what is in store for you.
You don’t know how deep it is.
You aim to conquer it, but if you are careless you get conquered.
It’s easy to get lost without a guide.

Ice:
Ice is Hard enough to allow an army to climb on it, still melts upon exposing to warmth.
We should be firm in the decision that we take. All the same we should not be adamant like a rock but give a hearing to others suggestions too.

Dew:
-Fresh, cool, glittering gems atop the tiny blades of grass.
Depicts how cool and clear our thoughts should be.

Waves (tide):
Perpetually moving between the coast and the inner sea, the waves teach us how active we should be.

River:
Flowing incessantly from source to Sea, the river never stops. Even when it is contained with a dam, it doesn’t lose its energy and keeps increasing its depth. And when released flows with the same speed.
So is life. Whatever happens, life cannot stop. It’s got to go on. Every time you get a failure you should utilize it to improve yourself. You may fall down, but you should get up every time you fall down. That’s what life is all about. And that’s the secret of success.

Water has lessons proportional to its abundance. It is as precious a guide as much as being a resource. So, next time you feel thirsty, go in for a cup of water rather than a bottle of cola. Who knows what that little cup of water can teach you!!!

INSPIRED

Be The Best
If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill,
Be a scrub in the valley-but be
The best little scrub by the side of the rill;
Be a bush if you can't be a tree.

If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass,
And some highway happier make;
If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass-
But the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew,
There's something for all of us here,
There's big work to do, and there's lesser to do,
And the task you must do is the near.

If you can't be a highway then just be a trail,
If you can't be the sun be a star;
It isn't by size that you win or you fail-
Be the best of whatever you are!

-By Douglas Malloch

This is my favorite poem, because it inspires the reader very much. As I read it,I suddenly remembered this quote:

"Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration"

I ran it again and again in my mind. Something seemed amiss.
Inspirational speech and writing are available in plenty. But we don’t get genius as much.
So what is inspiration?
Is it the creation of interest?
The answer is "yes" and "no".
Inspiration is something that creates interest and is powerful enough to sustain it.

There was a boy who went to his School’s annual day. On seeing some of his fellow-mates receiving prizes, he was motivated to study and get prizes next year. This is also inspiration. But later when he reached home he felt that the interest had subsided. Can you call this as inspiration? Though the boy was ready to put in 99% “perspiration”, the inspiration had become .01%. So was the inspiration not powerful enough? Here we are not talking about the boy becoming a genius, but about him getting successful. The same quotation (at the beginning) can be used for "SUCCESS" instead of "GENIUS".

I thought of another way of approaching this issue.
Take the following example:

There are two steps in having a fire.
1.Igniting-process of creating fire
2.fuelling-process of sustaining the fire

I felt that true inspiration must not be like a Flash in the pan but should be a Flame in the grate. So if inspiration creates a fire, and if igniting is like hearing speech or "watching people receiving prizes”, then the factor of fuelling is missing out.

Realization came like "a newly opened bottle of ‘goli’ soda on a hot summer day".
Getting inspired is not what creates the "fire"...it is all about getting inspired to inspire ourselves. The only thing that can really motivate you is yourself.

"So”, I thought,” does the quotation in the beginning demand a revision?? Or a different approach to explaining "genius" would do?"

Can we put it like:
Genius is one who is inspired from things that others aren’t able to.

Maybe. But i would rather have it as :

If you want to be successful, you must inspire yourself constantly.
Anything can be inspirational if you are determined to get inspired.
But ultimately what fuels you is yourself.

God-the initialiser and the terminator-even composer???

All our activities require the blessings of god.So i decided to dedicate my first entry to god.
The universal religion is music. So it goes without saying that THE god is A.R.RAHMAN(god!!)
I am a great great fan of this musical legend. His music never fails to make me feel elated. My worries simply melt away as he leads me into the wonderful world of music. He posses the ability or rather the gift of modelling the listener's thoughts and plays with their emotions.

Now lets get "spiritually elevated" not by listening to his music, but by knowing about this great man:

Birth name A. S. Dileep Kumar
Also known as Allah Rakha Rahman
Born January 6, 1966 (age 41)
Origin Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
Genre(s) Film score, theatre
Occupation(s) Composer, record producer, singer, instrumentalist, arranger, programmer
Instrument(s) Keyboards, vocals, guitar, piano, harmonium, percussion, other

A. R. Rahman was born to R. K. Shekhar, a composer, arranger and conductor for Malayalam films. His father died when Rahman was nine years old, Rahman converted to Islam after a personal family incident.During these early years, Rahman served as a keyboardist and an arranger in bands such as "Roots" with friends, embracing numerous music genres. He played the keyboard and piano, in addition to, among others, the synthesizer, the harmonium and the guitar. At the age of 11, he joined, as a keyboardist, the troupe of Indian composer Ilaiyaraaja.Rahman later played in the orchestra of M. S. Viswanathan and Ramesh Naidu, accompanied Zakir Hussain and Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan on world tours and obtained scholarship to Trinity College at Oxford University, where he graduated with a degree in Western classical music.

His first movie album Roja in Tamil was listed in TIME's "Top 10 Movie Soundtracks of All Time".Rahman also composed the score for the Chinese film Warriors of Heaven and Earth in 2003.

Rahman continues to record frequently in his studio, the Panchathan Record Inn. His latest work includes Water, Rang De Basanti, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal,Guru , Varalaru - The History of the Godfather,Sivaji: The Boss and Azhagiya Tamil Magan. Rahman has scored the movie Provoked and is also working on Shyam Benegal's next venture, Chamki Chameli, which is set for release in late 2007 as well as Jodhaa Akbar. He has also composed the score for Shekhar Kapur's upcoming film Elizabeth: The Golden Age with the composer Craig Armstrong. He is a recipient of the Padma Shri award.
ARR is well known for creating awesome jingles. My favourite is the AIRTEL TUNE.Other jingles are for Spirit of Unity Concert and so on.His albums Pray for me brother,Taj Anthem,Vande mataram,Jan Gan Man always stay in our hearts.

In addition to composing themes for charity media features and events, Rahman has set up the "A. R. Rahman Foundation" with a goal to eradicate poverty globally. This includes setting up and partnering with educational institutions across India to provide education to children who do not have easy access to schools or funds. In 2004, he was appointed as the Global Ambassador of the Stop TB Partnership, a project by WHO.He has shown support to charities including Save the Children, India, and worked with Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam for his song "Indian Ocean" . The song featured a-ha keyboard player Magne Furuholmen and Travis drummer, Neil Primrose. The proceeds of the song went towards helping orphans in Banda Aceh, one of the areas worst affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

Past XP

Hmmm....before i actually start off i thought i need to tell about my past experience with blog spot...

I created my first blog on Friday, 1 December 2006 for posting short mokkai(Superlative usage of "blade"... This is a derivative of the word "Mokkaiyappar" who was a king, famous for his "blade" jokes.) stories.

mokkaitrix.blogspot.com

Then on Saturday, September 15, 2007  i created another for creating an archive of my MMS(Mokkai Message Service-a service that sends mokkai jokes to people via cell phone daily)

skmms.blogspot.com

This is my third venture and i have decided not to flood my blogs with mokkai and do something better and more readable by people.
I look forward to seeing u in my later posts.
